Making voices louder

Post by Newbienw » Sat Oct 08, 2011 8:22 pm

Hi,
New here, sorry if this has been posted before. I did a search, but maybe I'm searching under the wrong thing. Anywho, I have two voices in the background which I can barely hear. When I try to amplify the voices, I hear more noise than the voices. I tried to reduce the noise level as well with noise reduction both before I tried amplify and when that didn't work I tried it after the amplify filter.

Still a no go on hearing what they're saying, I just hear a lot of fuzz. Funny thing is, I can hear the bus that stops outside my house, but I can't hear the voices?

The general rule is if you can't make out the voices now, Audacity isn't going to do you any good.

Does it still sound really bad if you put your headphones on instead of computer speakers? We record conversations in theaters by making sure they're in very good quality stereo. Even if the room is noisy and the volume is low, you can make out the voices by direction. I was very firm that the recording system -- as ratty as it was -- had to be stereo to get this effect.

You told us all about the Metrobus, but nothing about the people speaking. What are they and where are they and how are you recording them?
