Re: No sound when playing
You mean while you're actually recording?while i'm actually playing
Audacity Preferences > Recording > [X] Playthrough
There are sometimes Windows Control Panel settings that can affect this.

Re: No sound when playing
The Audacity Preference is "Software" Playthrough - that always has delay while the sound is passed through the computer.
See if you can unmute the input you are plugged into on the playback side of the system mixer. If it works it should have a lot less delay, but likely it won't work. See:
http://audacityteam.org/help/faq?s=reco ... laythrough
Otherwise you have to buy a USB interface with a headphones output and hardware monitoring. The interface can then be the recording and playback device for Audacity and you can monitor the input you have plugged into the interface without delay while listening to the Audacity output. If you want recommendations for equipment, let us know.
