while changing the settings to 2 channel
the top bar is at -6 while the bottom is at -12

Let's get this topic into the right part of the forum.
You're using Audacity 1.3.13 with Windows Vista?
I'm now looking for a topic from a while back that was about the same issue....

Re: Stereo recording from vinyl
Topic split.
There's quite a few places that it could get out of balance, so we'll need to get specific.
Make/model numbers and exactly what input/output is connected to which output/input for the turntable, mixer and sound card.

Re: Stereo recording from vinyl
Let's take the mixer out of the equation for a moment while we find out hat is happening.
Disconnect the mixer from the Numark STEREO iO.
You now have you turntable (do you know the make/model?) connected to the Phono inputs (item 1 in the Numark manual) via a pair of stereo phono to phono leads?
The switch on the Numark is set to (item 4 in the manual) is set to "Phono"?
The turntable has an Earth wire connected to the grounding terminal of the Numark (item 2 in the manual)?
When you record with this set up, the left (upper) channel in Audacity records about 6 dB louder than the right (lower) channel?
All correct so far?
Does your turntable have a "tracking" adjustment? If so, the first thing to do is to check that is set up correctly (see your turntable user manual for how to do that).

Re: Stereo recording from vinyl
My TT Is ATechnics 1200...
so you want me to connect the turntable Direct to the numark via phono or line?
and also do you want me to connect the earth direct from the TT To The Numark
is that Right...
If So,I Will Try That

Re: Stereo recording from vinyl
What's it connected to now? A Line in or a Phono in?jb3funk wrote:so you want me to connect the turntable Direct to the numark via phono or line?
Yes. And the mixer disconnected altogether. We need to narrow down where the issue is coming from, so if the issue persists when the mixer is not being used then we can eliminate the mixer as being anything to do with the problem.jb3funk wrote:and also do you want me to connect the earth direct from the TT To The Numark
