Volume changes while recording

Post by bcrich1234bc » Wed Sep 28, 2011 4:34 am

A few seconds after starting to play then volume drops. It's almost like im dropping the input level. It's getting really annoying and i've got no idea what to do.

You miss some important pieces of information... Which Audacity version and which operating system?

I bet you're on Windows and that's probably windows trying to "help" you.
Include as much details as you can in your post (Audacity version, Operating System, Equipment used, etc).
Please post your question in the appropriate forum (regarding audacity version and operating system).

The most likely cause is the "Enhancements" that Windows provides (for the purposes of voip programs such as Skype, voice recognition programs, and similar). These Enhancements make a mess of music recordings. Finding exactly where to switch these Enhancements off can be quite complicated to explain, so some kind soul has written up the instructions. You'll find them in the link that Koz provided.
