hey i was just wondering if there is a way to set audacity so it wont have distorted and poor quality recordings. im having an issue with my mixer moving the gain on itself and its ruining the quality. is theres a setting that keeps the distortion from happening? or any ideas of what i can do?
my mixer is automatically adjusting the gain on certain songs, im using an external midi controller and an audio interface to record. thanks!

Re: sound quality issues.
Newer Windows machines have conferencing and communications sound tools that default to "auto gain" and "audio echo cancellation," both of which can destroy the quality of a theatrical performance.

The mixer, which you haven't told us anything about, may have auto gain as well.
