volume settings

Post by SilvaTixi » Sun Sep 11, 2011 4:57 pm

Hi, when I listen to my recordings, i find that they are rather quiet. I can't hear them while driving. So before saving a project, I increase the volume. This solves the problem but if I could set audacity to automatically increase the volume to a desired level before saving each file, it would be an enormous time-saver. Are there any settings in edit/preferences or in any of the menus that help me do this?

Thank You

The English words "listen in the car" are the ones that Chris Capel used in his web site when he introduced his compression software. It has roughly the same effect that the leveling and processing at your local FM station has. It doesn't appear to be doing anything, but the show is louder and more even in volume variations.
