Re: I Cant hear what i am recording
Recording happens in two steps. Your microphone picks up your voice and causes the Audacity red recording meters to jump and the blue waves to appear on the time line. Do you have it that far?
The second, separate job is for Audacity to fold back the voice so you can hear it. This step isn't required for you to get a recording.
This is where it's different between computers and versions. Edit > Preferences > see if there's a setting called Playthrough and select that. You may need to restart Audacity. You also may need to go into Windows Preferences to make sure your headphones are selected for playback. If you have USB equipment, they may not be.

Re: I Cant hear what i am recording
All that and you will get the most and best advice if you use Audacity 1.3 instead of 1.2.
Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported,
patched, corrected, or updated. Audacity 1.2 can
be unstable on newer computers.
Download and install the latest Audacity 1.3 from here...
http://audacityteam.org/download/
You can install both audacity 1.2 and Audacity 1.3 on
the same computer, but only use one at a time.
Audacity 1.2 will not open projects made on Audacity 1.3.
If you use MP3 or some of the more modern audio
compression formats, get Lame and FFMpeg software
from the same web site. Do not use older software
or software from other web sites, even though they
may have the same names.
