1st Track Plays Over New One

Post by HowToCatchShadows » Tue Aug 19, 2008 4:53 pm

Hey there-

I'm trying to record a lead acoustic guitar part over a rhythm part. And for some reason, the previous track plays over whatever I am recording. I'm using headphones, and I'm sure that mic isn't picking up the headphones- because when I turn the headphones completely off, the playback on the recording track. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm using a condenser microphone close to the acoustic guitar...if it matters.

In this particular case no, but we take what information we can get.

Since you're on a Windows machine, you have the ability to record Mix-Out which is the sum total of your whole show so far in addition to the stuff you want to add to it. You'll have to dig in the Windows Audio Control panels to figure out how to turn it off.

This, by the way, is the exact thing you have to turn on when you want to record internet radio shows.
