Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Is it possible to apply Audacity effects to live audio input

Post by faitswulff » Fri Jul 01, 2011 6:52 pm

My microphone has a horrendous hiss and I would love to get the noise removal effect working all the time, with everything. Is there any way to do this? Even beyond using Audacity?

Thanks

I don't think so. Audio editers are designed for editing digital audio files.

I beileve there is a program (or driver) of some kind that can apply VST effects in real time, but I'm not sure what it's called... Sorry.

The "real solution" is probably better hardware... A good microphone (i.e one with an XLR connector) and a good preamp, or mixer, or USB interface.

No. Audacity only does three things in real time, Record, Playback and some timer tasks. That's it. Everything else is done in post production -- later, after the live show.
