can audacity help us?
Hello all.
I tryed to read all your documents but i wasn't able to find what i was looking for.
I know how good is your software but seams that isn't able to do what i have to do , so i decided to write this question to know if im right .
I'm having online video streeming on stickam.com ( to share my desktop and the program i use , while the others look at me , i use manycam but i dont have nothing to share the voice of all of us)
Due to the fact that this web site lag too much , we decided that just one of us would have used his webcam to show the video on stickam and we would have used skipe to talk each other in a better way. Stickam is able to rec the audio from skipe just becouse who has gone live with his webcam send online olso the audio that his mic is able to register from his speakers.
So stickam broadcast and rec online his audio his video , and the skipe audio from the speakers ( so on the video you can hear also the audio of the rest of us ).
Is theere a way to use a program on the computer that would let us avoid the passage Speakers ---> mic and let the audio from skipe going live directly?
IF your program can't help us you know another that could be useful?
If you ask why we are trying to make such a thing like this is becose we are a group working on a progect . Everyone live in a different city . And not every one is online at the some time so we need to update olso the rest of the memeber on the progress done. Oltrught our progect is open source so we wanted to share the progress of the progect to everyone .
Sorry for my bad english

Voice recordings work better with headphones.

Headphones will turn off the speaker.

Total Recorder is a program that will record both sides of a Skype call on different tracks. Outgoing on one track and incoming on the other. Pamela Professional and Business will do that, too (the other two Pamela products are crippled).

Many people try to push too much onto one computer. Sometimes you can use a second computer or stand-alone recorder to record the show and use the first computer to manage the communications. That's how the broadcasters do it. The machines that produce the show are not the machines that record it.

Re: can audacity help us?
My bad english wasn't able to explain you the problem.
I don't rec the video on my computer i just broadcast it .
I have a virtual web cam( many cam ) , a mic , speakers , a stickam account and a skipe account what i do is
I call my group on skipe
i login on stickam and i start the video streaming showing my descktop thank to a virtual cam ( done by manycam software )
Me and my group talk trought skipe .
My mic is able to hear what i say and is able to hear what the group say trought the speakers
So my mic send to stickam my voice and the voice of the group
Then i push the rec button over stickam.
So i rec the video on stickam servers.
The problem is that the audio quality is bad due to the fact that the audio of the group pass trought my room and then go inside the mic before going online.
So i need a software that can let me skip this last passage to send to stickam a better audio of the group

Re: can audacity help us?
Audacity is a post production program. The only thing it does in real time is record, play and times for recording when you're not home. That's it. All the other tools, filters and effects are for later, after you finish recording the show.
It's very common to have audio production problems when you use Skype. Skype forces certain computer sound pathways that it likes to have and turns others off. If you override these pathways, you may force Skype to become unstable and stop working.
I would still use two computers and a small mixer. One computer does the communications and Skype and turns over the voices to the mixer. Your voice goes to the mixer and an isolated split goes back to the Skype computer. The mixer combines the parts of the show (and maybe music from an iPod) and delivers a complete, mixed show to the second computer that does the video mix and upload.
A natural computer only has two sound channels: stereo record and stereo play. Skype uses both of them up.
I did a question on Email a while ago from people doing podcasts. Almost all of them do it in post production where each person records a high quality version of their voice in their house and then sends the voice track file to a central city for mixing. Skype is used for coordination only. The gargly, bubbling Skype voice is never part of the show.

Re: can audacity help us?
I kept trying to think of a combination of pathways which would work without the second computer, and I can't do it. You need two different transmit pathways: Your voice by itself to the other people and the mixed show with everybody's voice to the upload.
There is a simple way to do it if you send the mixed show to Everybody. The problem there is all the actors in the different cities will get their own voice back to them late which is really rough to deal with and still hold a good conversation. That and the echo cancellation voice management in Skype will try to cancel parts of it out -- it becomes unstable.

Lets say that i have never seen a mixer in my life . I have 2 computer and i will try to think something that could let me skip the mixer passage .
Your answer tell me that i have to continue with the sistem i'm using now. I was hoping in a software but from what you say , probebaly the best way is to change conferenze program. Probably google talk will help us better then skipe.
Thank you again for your help.
