recording delay - guitar

Post by Ecruos » Fri Jun 17, 2011 11:46 am

Hello.

I recently bought an external soundcard Focusrite Saffire 6 USB (http://www.focusrite.com/products/audio ... ire_6_usb/). I have managed to record when I play my electric guitar, and it sounds absolutely great.
The problem occurs when I want to play together with my drum lines that I have imported into Audacity in mp3 format. When I record I play the guitar perfectly with the drums, but when I'm done and listen to the track I notice it's badly off beat. I think its somewhere around 0.3-0.5 seconds delay on the guitar.

My question is - is there any way to adjust the delay in the options in Audacity, or does someone have any tip at all?

You need to upgrade to Audacity 1.3.13 http://audacityteam.org/download/
and set up "latency correction" as described here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Latency_Test
(Audacity 1.2.x does not have adjustable latency correction)
