Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Directory for temp

Post by K.C. » Sat Aug 04, 2007 9:30 am

I just installed 1.26 on a Mac Pro and when I went to set the path to the temp file it wouldn't let me just choose an empty drive. I first had to create an empty folder to point it to. Perhaps that deservers a mention in future documentation.

Is this a permissions issue? Are the permissions on your target drive set to ignore special permissions? If not, then Audacity will try to create a folder on that drive and it will not be allowed to do so by OS-X.

I am having pretty much the same problem, my troubleshooting tells me i should be able to retrieve files not deleted in the directory but nothing shows. Could anybody shed some light on this please?

<<<1.26 on a Mac Pro >>>

That could be a problem right there, as we're finding out. If you are Mac/Intel/Leopard (OS-X 10.5) your audacity choices are 1.3.7. Neither Audacity 1.2.5 nor Audacity 1.2.6 is stable on the newer Macs.

It gives me the option to recover files manually so i assume they are stored somewhere but there is just the start link in the directory. If ya can point me in the right direction would be much appreciated thanks.

You, unlike the earlier poster, have a crash recovery issue, not a permissions issue. Recovering from a disaster isn't as easy as the operating messages lead you to think.

I can't tell you where the temporary directory is because I upgraded to Leopard and can't run Audacity 1.2 any more. You should be downloading and running 1.3.7. You can install both versions as long as you only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 will open 1.2 projects.
