I'm running Audacity 1.3.5 on a G4 Powerbook / OS X 10.4.11
the way the plugins are organized leaves something to be desired but that's another issue
my Nyquist plugs used to work but now I can't see them any longer in the 'Effects' pull down menu
I can see the LADSPA plugs I just installed
*some* of the plugs can be seen such as chimesdelay.ny and gverb.so
but not others such as widener.ny, equalabel.ny and others
also all my Pluggo plugs show as 'Pluggo...' in the pull down as well
anyone have any ideas how to fix this?
toss a pref file or something?
cheers!

some .ny plugins not showing up

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Re: some .ny plugins not showing up
Sure.
Trash Mac Audacity Preferences
/SystemDrive/Users/koz/Library/Preferences/audacity Preferences
Early Audacity Windows Preferences were burned into the Registry. Abandon Hope Ye Who Enter...
Remember if you do this, Audacity will revert back to First Birthday. You'll need to reset the cache drives, Mono/Stereo, etc.
<<<the way the plugins are organized leaves something to be desired>>>
You found organization somewhere?
I would personally have logged in as "Anne Echoic" and see how many people get the joke.

@Koz
do you mean this file?
/Users/kimcascone/Library/Application Support/audacity/audacity.cfg
I trashed this file and the plugs I mentioned earlier still don't show up in the list
so this didn't work
any other ideas?
also, any thoughts as to why all my Pluggo plugs show as 'Pluggo...'
in the pull down?

Re: some .ny plugins not showing up
<<</audacity.cfg>>>
Must be the newer version of Audacity. Mine is a different filename.
Ignoring the plugins for a minute, did Audacity go back to first birthday? You did restart Audacity after that, right?
Audacity does not have perfect support for everybody's plugins. They warn you that some work and some don't. It depends on how well they were written and how closely they adhered to the plugin type format. My guess on the Pluggio items is whoever wrote them violated one of the naming conventions and Audacity can't figure it out. Also, Audacity may have never known that they were even if they were perfectly written. Do they load in 1.2? You can have both Audacity's on your machine as long as you don't try to run them both at once.

but I was just wondering if this was a Audacity issue or a Pluggo issue - or both
as for why some Nyquist plugs show up while others don't...?
Re: some .ny plugins not showing up
Really? What's yours called? According to the documentation for Audacity 1.3 it is audacity.cfg on all platforms, or are you using Audacity 1.2?kozikowski wrote:<<</audacity.cfg>>>

Audacity currently uses Nyquist 2.37. Nyquist 3 is not yet supported, so v.3 plug-ins will probably not work. Also Audacity only has a partial implementation of Nyquist so some features are not available. A full implementation would make Audacity considerably bigger, and would include features that Audacity does not support. The full stand alone version of Nyquist is available from http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~music/music.software.html
"equalabel.ny" should work, but perhaps you are looking in the wrong place - plug-ins that operate with labels are usually listed in the "Analyze" menu rather than the "Effects" menu.
Plug-ins that generate an audio output are usually in the "Generate" menu.

when I upgraded to 1.3 I replaced all the .ny plugs bundled with 1.3x
but not the others
so perhaps they are too old to work with 1.3x?
OK good to know...I'll look into thatAlso Audacity only has a partial implementation of Nyquist so some features are not available.
