I need some help again. I downloaded audacity and used it several times. Then I stopped using it for a while. Then it wouldn't record. So I went back and deleted it and downloaded it again and under preferences I need a "line-in" and it isn't available. What happened????? I need that line-in or it won't record. I'm so frustrated. Something like this happens all the time for me.

Most probably your sound card settings have changed.
What operating system do you use?
Which version of Audacity are you using? (look in "Help menu > About Audacity)
What are you recording from? Do you have it plugged in before you open Audacity?
