Please explain this window!
I've attached the window that I see when I start recording. I don't know how I got into this state, but the gray region is only half the height of the window, and there are hatched bars on each end whose meaning I don't understand. Can someone explain what's going on?

You have the Mulit-tool selected in the Tools Toolbar.
