Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

buttons disabled on record/play screen

Post by audacious67 » Sat May 07, 2011 5:06 am

I just installed driver 1.26 and am running Windows 7 64 bit. I thought the program was win7 compatible, but the CD doesn't list win7 (although the catalog did), and mention 64 bit is uncertain. All the buttons - skip to start, play, etc. are dimmed and are disabled, so I can't do anything. Is it not compatible with my operating system at all? I'm not even editing, just want to record from an audio cassette and save to CD (as .wav file) and edit. These are interview tapes, not music...just spoken word.

Help!

No, it's not.

Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported,
patched, corrected, or updated. Audacity 1.2 can
be unstable on newer computers.

Download and install the latest Audacity 1.3 from here...

http://audacityteam.org/download/

You can install both audacity 1.2 and Audacity 1.3 on
the same computer, but only use one at a time.

Audacity 1.2 will not open projects made on Audacity 1.3.

If you use MP3 or some of the more modern audio
compression formats, get Lame and FFMpeg software
from the same web site. Do not use older software
or software from other web sites, even though they
may have the same names.
