Hi,
I've used audacity for a while and have never come across a problem like this and it is seriously worrying me.
I'm trying to put reverb on a backing track with GVerb, and so I'm duplicating the backing track and trying to run the whole thing through GVerb. This normally works, of course. I've done it many times before with no problems. But what is happening now is that it only puts effects on something like five seconds of the beginning of the track and then zeroes out audio on the rest. Literally silence is showing up on the screen. I've now started trying out other effects and the same thing is happening: five seconds or so of effects and then total cutoff/erasing of audio.
What the hell is going on here? I have been recording an album with a friend for months with Audacity and I am deeply spooked at what is happening here. I am absolutely, completely terrified at the prospect that files might be corrupt or that I might have to replace Audacity. I have work since December built up with Audacity and nothing like this has ever happened before. Please help me!

Re: Effects silencing audio
It turns out that the backing track had somehow become corrupted. After a nightmarish salvage mixing session I managed to get it all together.
