When I load up an audacity file (importing from OGG) and edit it, I get this error message:
Couldn't write to file "/home/argh/.audacity-data/AutoSave/2011 04 03 Morning - 2011-04-04 10-34-28 N-1.tmp": Error opening file
Any ideas why?
Thanks!

Which audacity version? You posted in the 1.2.x section of the forum, so if you're still using such an old version of audacity it could be due to the spaces in the filename...
It could also be that you don't have writing permissions in that folder, but that appears to be your homedir so that shouldn't be a problem. It could also be that you're running out of disk space in that partition...
If you're still on audacity 1.2.x it's highly recommended that you upgrade to 1.3.12.
Include as much details as you can in your post (Audacity version, Operating System, Equipment used, etc).
Please post your question in the appropriate forum (regarding audacity version and operating system).

Does the folder "/home/argh/.audacity-data/AutoSave/" exist?
Are you logged into the computer as "argh"?
Did you launch Audacity as a regular user? (you should not run Audacity as root)

You're right -- I posted the wrong place. In any case, I am using 1.3.12
HA! It WAS the permissions. I made sure the permissions of /home/username/.audacity were set for me, and clicked to apply that to the enclosed files, but nautilus (in Ubuntu) didn't apply those permissions to the enclosed folders.

I manually reassigned the folders to me and it works.
Thanks!
Again -- sorry for posting the wrong place.
