Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Help, recording streaming internet radio

Post by TinPan » Mon Mar 28, 2011 11:51 am

Dont know what I did but I have been recording a streaming radio show for months then all of a sudden I am not getting it. I log on to the internet and go to the radio show web site, I open the live window and I hear the show live, I then open audacity and press record. I can hear the show I can see audacity recording but it records nothing "just a flat line". I must have done something but have no clue what. Why would audacity record a flat line and how do I correct this?

You can see it recording because you can see the bouncing red recording meters, like this?

If you don't get either one of those, then Audacity is not recording.

This happens when somebody gets a new computer or does an operating system upgrade. What changed? This recording process is a lot harder on newer computers.

If you just clicked on the wrong thing, you may be able to find help in the recording wiki.

No there is no action, the L&R (red bar's) light up but one is about a quater of the way up and the other half that 1/8 and they both "flicker", they do this even if not connected to the radio station. Im a guitar player and this reminds me of the recorder is on but the guitar is not plugged in. In other words my internet connection may not be reaching audacity. Is there something I can check for that?

Ok, thanks everyone, this is all good information the only problem is to me it's all french, I dont know much computer lingo, can anyone walk me through so I can fix this problem? All I know is Audacity worked before, I was recording the radio show on the timer so I could listen the next day. I have been recording the show every week for months but now I get nothing into audacity, the station web stream works I hear it fine, audacity begins recording (goes into motion) but nothing gets put down, it's just a flat line. I need someone to explain in layman's terms and walk me through. Does audacity have a phone help line?

Please help the show is on tonight!

Yes I get that screen, however I do not see the little box with the 2 check's show disabled devices/show disconnected devices. If I click one of the choices it asks to either make it default or default communication device.
I have been at this and I must have started another discussion on this where I list all my system, I have a Dimond xtream sound audio card model XS7.1

Right Click on that screen to produce the little box, then enable (tick) those two check boxes.
