I'm a new user and am trying to create an aerobics music file on an ipod.
I have an aerobics CD, which is mixed such that each track blends into the next and the beat is continuous from track to track thru the entire CD. The CD was played during the workout on a CD player that can adjust the tempo up to the correct beats per minute. But, new aerobic digs don't have have a CD player and no ability to adjust tempo.
So, I'm trying to put the entire CD with increased tempo on ipod. I am able to import each track from the CD into Audacity, increase the tempo and save as an aiff, then put in a playlist. BUT when the play list is played in iTunes, the tracks don't flow together like the CD, beats are discontinuous between tracks even though each track is saved with the same tempo multiplier.
What is the best way for a novice Audacity user to put an entire CD into an ipod play list with an increased tempo?
Thanks in advance
Rich

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Re: Aerobics CD
When you make the Music CD in iTunes, there is an intermediate panel which asks you (among other things) how many seconds to leave between songs. The Red Book Music CD standard is 2 seconds, but you can force it to be zero.
One of the important problems the early iPods had was the inability to play "Live Performance CDs" which had chapters, but no breaks. I believe that got fixed.

Thanks, that got rid of the gap between songs, but the beats still don't match up like the CD. Will Audacity allow me to record the entire CD as a single track, adjust tempo, then export to itunes?
Thanks,
Rich

How? Music on a CD is in a special space-saving format and you can't just drag and drop.I am able to import each track from the CD into Audacity...
I suppose the only good way to insure the continuity of the performance is real time capture with SoundFlower.

And then process the whole performance at once.

Re: Aerobics CD
Sorry, I'm just paying attention. You should stop using Audacity 1.2. It's very old and can have serious problems with Macs.
Download and install Audacity 1.3.12 from here.
http://audacityteam.org/download/
You can safely install both, but only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 Projects will not open in 1.2.
If you use lame or other software extensions, get them fresh from that page. Don't use old software.
