I am having the same difficulty. Could it be that my AntiVirus program in mistaking the LAME MP3 encoder for the Trojan virus of the same name?

Are you also trying to download Lame on a school computer? Does your school IT policy allow downloading executable files?

If you have issues, download the zip, not the .exe installer. This applies to the FFmpeg installer and the Audacity program downloads too.

Apart from the issue that if you are on a school or business network you may not have permission to install programs, several computer security programs wrongly detect compressed installers such as those used by Audacity as "Trojans" or other viruses.

Audacity does not knowingly distribute malware. If you find that installers supplied through Audacity are detected as a virus, feel free to let us know, but please also report it to your IT manager so they can raise a ticket with the supplier of the computer security program.
