Track Numbers After Finishing A Recording Of A Tape

Post by rmreyes12 » Mon Feb 28, 2011 11:15 pm

I noticed after recording a 90 minute cassette and exporting it, when I call it up from where I stored it,it does not have track 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. My 80 minute CD could not burn the music at all. If I saw track numbers I could select the ones that would fit onto the CD. How do I make this possible? Also, when recording, I do not see anywhere where there it a timer, for example how many minutes into the recording of the tape. That would help to. Can anyone help? Thanks. :)

You are intended to record a whole tape or record and then break it up into songs in post production.

After you capture the tape, play or skip through it and put a label (Control-B) at the Beginning of each song. Then File > Exported Multiple.

The Audio Position window at the bottom should give you a running time of the capture. If you don't have it, you need to upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12 from here:

http://audacityteam.org/download/

You should get additional software like lame and FFMpeg from the same place. Don't use any older software.

You can install both versions, but only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 Projects will not open in 1.2.

The CD advertising will say 80 minutes, but few people get more than around 78. One poster complained bitterly that he produced an 80 minute show exactly and the Music CD authoring program couldn't deal with it.

What are you using to author the CD?

That's not an Audacity issue. Check the mixcloud documentation, they should be able to explain how to use their service.
