I am recording using a Lexicon Alpha preamp, with Sennheiser e609 mic. My laptop is a Sony VAIO, running Windows 7
When I record I am getting wavelength bars as if Audacity is picking up what I am playing. But when I try to play it back to hear what I have just recorded I am getting no sound at all.
I've checked my preferences and all the input/output settings seem to be correct, and I haven't been able to find an answer to my problems via FAQs.
So is there something I'm doing wrong, or is it my Hardware/Software?

Re: Playback issues
Hi Doc. My guess is that you have your headphones/speakers plugged into the wrong device. A lot of external audio devices by default route the output to themselves in Audacity, so you would have to plug into that. Then again, some devices keep the computer's output. I would try plugging into whichever you're not plugged into right now, and see if that helps. For example, my Alesis board defaults to sending the output through my laptop's headphone jack, while my H4 defaults to the headphone jack on itself. That would be the easiest solution, so hopefully that's it. If that's not it, let us know

Re: Playback issues
AHHHHHH. Thanks for the help. It turns out that the output was in fact, routed to play through the headphone jack in my preamp, and NOT the speakers on my laptop as I had originally thought.
Thanks for the help Justin. Mad apreesh.
