I haven't figured out what causes it, but sometimes certain keys seem like they are thinking that I have the "Apple" key pressed when I'm typing in a Track Label. For example, if I want to type "Breakdown Dead Ahead" in a track label, the Brea types fine, but then the k wants to delete something! I've seen this with the "j" key as well. And I know I'm not holding down the Apple key. I've seen it a number of times, but other times the k, j, etc. keys work fine.
Mac Leopard 10.5.3 - Audacity 1.3.5d.
Thanks.
Danita

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Re: Certain Keys fail to work in Labels
This worked once, so it became an instant Old Wive's Tale.
Go into the keyboard shortcuts and deselect the letter key in question. Restart Audacity. That key should return to normal and then I think you can even put that key back in the shortcuts if you want.

Re: Certain Keys fail to work in Labels
Okay - I'll try that. Although I was posting here more to "report" it as a problem that needs to be fixed rather than to try to find a workaround. Your workaround will probably work well for me though, because I don't use these two particular shortcuts ever, so just removing them will fix my immediate problem
Thanks!

There does seem to be a minor issue here.

Re: Certain Keys fail to work in Labels
Now fixed in source code, so should work in 1.3.7 when released, or in Mac Nightly Builds (take the latest at the bottom of the list) if anyone wants to test.danitaz wrote:...sometimes certain keys seem like they are thinking that I have the "Apple" key pressed when I'm typing in a Track Label.
