mp3 import issues

I am a new Audacity user, and I am trying to import and edit some mp3 files on my computer. Every time I import an mp3 file, it loads a file that is less than a second long. Anything I'm doing wrong that I need to fix, or any other suggestions?

You are almost certainly not importing MP3 - it is most likely that you are attempting to import a filetype that Audacity does not support - my guess is that you have an AAC/MP4 trcak from iTunes.

Audacity supports WAV, MP3, OGG and FLAC(in 1.3.x)
