Recording on two tracks

Post by pantograph001 » Fri Feb 18, 2011 9:04 pm

Hello from Germany,

I am using a ppc/G5 and I want to record LPs mix an CD out of it. I open a track and record one, I open a second one and record, but when I want to record my third song on the first track, audacity opens a new track. I don´t need 20 tracks at the end of my recording. Clicking stop creates a new track, clicking pause remains in the same track. What can I do? I did it so at my ex girl-friend´s pc, but that was a vista-machine...

Greetings from Hamburg

You should be using Audacity 1.3.12, even though it says "Beta" software. If you upgrade your machine to Intel, you may find that Audacity 1.2 is not supported at all.

You can put both versions on your machine safely. Audacity 1.2 Projects open in 1.3.

Audacity 1.3.12 has an "Append Recording" feature that allows you to start recording from an arbitrary place on a timeline. Shift-R from the Transport Menu.
