streaming music form Napster

Post by unklmatt » Wed Dec 22, 2010 11:37 pm

Are there any know issues when using Audacity to record music streamed from Napster. The moment I hit the record button, the Napster streams begins to skip. When I close Audacity, and just listen to Napster, the audio quality is error free. I have used Audacity with Rhapsody and have not had this same issue. Are there special specific settings when using Audacity to record music streamed from Napster? This issue occurs when I use 1.2 or 1.3 (beta)?

See if you can find any unofficial Napster Forums or audio Forums where they will discuss the current Napster. Ask if there are any available settings that especially impact on computer resources and that could disrupt the stream if software was recording it.

Try increasing the latency (audio to buffer) setting in the Audacity 1.3 Recording Preferences. See if any of these computer resources tweaks help.

Napster may be more demanding on your computer than other players and your computer is struggling to keep up. As they are in the business of selling downloads, you wouldn't expect them to make it easy for you to copy without paying.
