The fifteen gold pins is probably the Compact DB-15 connector and that's how you connect your computer to a much larger monitor or display panel should you decide to do that.

The one that looks like a telephone connector but larger is the connection to your computer network. It's the hardware version of WiFi wireless if you have that.

Neither carries sound.
We usually recommend a UCA202 as a cheap reasonable way to get stereo sound into a computer.
