Windows Vista SP1 Crashes when I load multiple wav files.

Post by brumar1109 » Tue May 27, 2008 1:54 am

I want to thank you fro creating this program first of all. I am running a X64 based system with Vista SP1 I have used this program succuessfully to edit wave files. I tried to load about 50 wav files with a total size of about 53MB into the program window. This has worked before. The difference is this time it crashed. I believe the reason for the crash is the original set that did not crash was recorded in Mono 16 bit 44K. This new set was recorded in Stereo 22bit 44K. The new set crashes the program. The message says "A problem with the program has caused it to stop working"

Just to test to see if it was the installation I tried the same 50 files from a different recording in mono 22/44K The system did not crash and the program worked fine. The reason for the stereo is to avoid having to add bass back in at the end because of the mono limitations.

What needs to happen to stop the program from crashing when I use the stereo files?

Does anyone have any ideas??

Dual Core 2.66
Sound Blaster X-FI Elite Pro/ Latest Drivers for Vista

Did you say when it crashes? During loading? playing? saving?

Almost no idea.
I searched Forum for
stereo crash
and perhaps you should look at.

Look at:
http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic ... ash#p16007

Try: check if all tracks are indeed stereo. If not, make them all stereo.

Also you can check your disk, for sure.

Try: Edit>Preferences>Import/Export> Copy files while importing (and restart audacity)

Does anything help?

Also check "Edit > Preferences > Directories" where it says "Hold recorded data in memory...." this should not normally be selected.
