I am using Mac OS 10.6.5, I've been using Audacity 1.3.12-beta and find that all of a sudden I have no "Project window" at all. When I load a file and I hit the space bar the music will play but there is no proj. win. I've been using Audacity for about one month and have had no major issues until this week. I'm on the verge of deleting and reinstalling the program but thought I would give you a chance at solving this.

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Re: No project window after loading music file
If you remember all of your customizations enough to do them again, you can start Audacity from First Birthday by trashing the preferences file. No need to reinstall software.
Before I tell you how, did you install 1.3.12 over an earlier Audacity, like 1.2.5? Then the rules could change.
Close Audacity.
From the desktop. Go > Home > Library > Application Support. Drag the whole audacity folder to the trash.
Restart Audacity and it should start from First Birthday -- when you first installed it. Did that help?

Here's a somewhat longer version of the same thing.

Re: No project window after loading music file
Is it possible that the window might be "hidding" somewhere outside of the screen or in other workspace? Are you on a laptop? Did you recently connect it to an external monitor? Have you checked if the window shows anywhere in exposé? Also try exposé in spaces to show all windows in all spaces like this:GRW wrote:I am using Mac OS 10.6.5, I've been using Audacity 1.3.12-beta and find that all of a sudden I have no "Project window" at all. Just to be sure... you tried to quit Audacity (Cmd-Q) and relaunch it again, right? And the problem persisted after that, correct?
If all that fails try what Koz said... Reinstalling audacity won't clear the preferences files, so reinstalling audacity usually does not make any difference... resetting the preferences file does.
Include as much details as you can in your post (Audacity version, Operating System, Equipment used, etc).
Please post your question in the appropriate forum (regarding audacity version and operating system).

Re: No project window after loading music file
Thank you KOS. I deleted the audacity folder, restarted Audacity and it is back.
