Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone can help with a problem I am having with my Sweex 5.1 pci sound card that I use with my Audacity.
I recently bought a 2nd hand HP desktop pc, but the built in sound card was not working, so I bought a Sweex pci sound card, to which the pcs sound now works. The only problem is I use Audacity, for recording audio from an external source, ie Line In on the sound card, and when I record audio there is a slight humming noise/interference on playback. Even when I disconnect my line in input and have the sound card with no inputs, then record with Audacity there is still a background noise.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be, or anything I could try?
Thanks

The sound card may be picking up interference from other components in the computer. You could try moving it to a different PCI slot and see if there is any difference.

Hi there,
Thanks for that info. I did move the sound card into all three PCI slots...and the same seems to happen in all slots:((
