Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Line in?

In a previous version on Audacity (1.2.3 I think) I used to be able to select a few options such as 'line-in' 'wave' etc etc from a pull down menu, but the menu is well,... empty and won't open and I'm not getting any data recorded.
Anyone run into this problem?

I have run into exactly the same problem now that I've upgraded to Vista and have been unable to find a solution anywhere. The Beta Audacity also offers no the microphone as the only alternative. As a temporary fix try linking your audio output to microphone input and turn the volume controls down to avoid saturation. It works for me but it is not the correct way to record.

If anyone finds the proper solution I also would also be glad to learn about it.

Audacity tries its best to hook into the operating system to get the right sound service at the right place and time. Sometimes, the results are a little fuzzy. Go into the Windows control panels directly and do it that way.
