Hi,
I'm a blind user of Audacity 1.3.5 Beta.
I've noticed the following bug:
when I'm working on a project, sometimes I happen to open another project.
Then I copy the sound which is contained in the second project that I've
opened and I close it to paste the copied sound in the clipboard in the
first project (after having created a new track). When I close the second
project and I said that I don't want to save it, audacity crashes. So I
cannot paste the sound from the clipboard into the first project, plus the
clipboard is emptied and finally - even when recovering, if I've not saved -
it recovers only the first track of the first project.
I know it's difficult to explain, but I hope I make myself very clear.
Mauri

Re: Bug report
Hi Mauri, we meet again.
It is not advisable to have more than one instance of Audacity open at one time. The problem is that they may easily overwrite each others temporary files and mess things up for both instances. There are some measure in place to prevent this from happening, but in certain conditions it can still be done.

Re: Bug report
Hi again Steve,
Could you please suggest the measures to take in order to minimize the possibility that crashes happen. Sorry to everybody else for the off-topic, as far as the thread title is concerned.

Re: Bug report
I guess this is a bit trickier for you as a blind user, but you need to try to have just one instance of Audacity open at one time. When you have finished working on one project and want to start working one a new on, close down Audacity completely before you open the new project. This has the added bonus that Audacity cleans up its temporary files and releases the memory that it was using, so there are more resources available for your new project.

Re: Bug report
Is this going to be fixed? Sometimes I need to have more than one audio file open for comparison or copy/paste applications. Also, another related bug: When I open a second audio file, the file won't pop up; I have to wait until it loads completely, then right click the start menu button for it, then click Maximize. The file will be zoomed out all the way.

Re: Bug report
I have often had two instances of Audacity open to do what Mauri is trying to do and it has worked fine, The difference between Mauri's usage and mine is that I do not close the second instance of Audacity after I have made the cut odf a selected Audaio section from the second project.
Just to be clear my workflow is:
1. Main project opened and active for editing
2. 2nd project containing needed sound clip opened
3. selection made in Project-2 - and cut to paste buffer with CTRL+C
4. Main project activated and audio pasted in at requesite position (or new track) with CTRL+V
And that has always worked like a charm - though I do agree that in most circumstances it is not wise to edit more that one Audacity project simultaneously.
Update: just tested this and confirm that it works ok - but also tried what Mauri posted - closing the second project immediately after the cut to the paste buffer and responding "no" to do I want to save - and Audcity did not crash ...
