Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Recording Blocked

It's been a while since I did some recording (narration) using Audacity, but I wrote down the procedure at the time, and when I tried to record this morning, I followed that -- without success. I have "Microphone" selected , but when I click on the record button all I get on the audio track is a running flat line. My TUBE MP has the green light on and everything is solidly plugged in.

EDIT: Am using a Sound Blaster Audigy card.

One other thing does seem odd. I *think* I remember, when "Microphone" was selected that automatically there was new audio track on the screen. Either that, or I *think* I might have used File/New to bring up a new track. (I don't ever recall having to start as I did today with Project/New Audio Track.) But if I click on File/New now, a second Audacity comes up!

EDIT: A couple of weeks ago, I downloaded a new LAME file for Audacity and deleted the old one. Could that have messed things up for me?

The Tube MP is a full-on microphone preamp and should be plugged into the Line-In of your sound card, not the Mic-In. If it's not labeled in English, It's the fan icon with the arrow pointing in rather than out.

Ahh. In the time between my last recording session and this one, my son moved the tower, unplugging and replugging everything. I'm back in business now. Blessings on thee.
