Hey,
I am having trouble recording sound using audacity. When I try to I get the message:
'error while opening sound device. please check the input device settings and the project sample rate'
I went into edit and preferences and on the audio I/O tab I have two options for the playback device: Speaker/HP (Realtek High Def...) and Microsoft Sound Mapper- Output and no options in the recording device tab.
I have a Sony VAIO VGN-NR21J and my sound card is Realtek High Definition Audio
Can someone please help?
Thanks
I also can't record sound

Re: I also can't record sound
Looks like your sound card driver does not want to play and is throwing its toys out of the pram. You could check to see if there are any updated drivers for your audio device / mother board. If that doesn't work, then you probably need to look at using a different sound card, or try and find an audio editor that your soundcard does not object to.

we;; it always happens to me try inserting your mic before opening audacity then open audacity after mic has been plugged in

That sounds like it could be a good solution for some of those on-board sound devices that "auto detect" what you have plugged in. What sound card do you have?terse wrote:we;; it always happens to me try inserting your mic before opening audacity then open audacity after mic has been plugged in
(USB microphones also sometimes need the same sort of thing)
