Hello. I try to build Audacity 1.3.12 with wxWidget 2.8.11 and I failed. I also try with other version of wxWiget and Audacity. does anybody got the same error of me and how did you resolv it?

I moved this to the correct "Compiling Audacity" forum (you are not using Audacity 1.2).

What distribution of Linux are you on? Have you installed -dev packages for all your dependent libraries?

Yes Ia have any lib I need. I have Slackware 13.1. I ever build it long time ago, I successful build audacity 1.3.7, now I failed on 1.3.12 with wxWigets 2.8.11. In the changes logs they aren't any changes suspect this error.

I have been facing the same problem with audacity from svn. Can anybody tell me how to resolve it?

I had go back to svn checkout -r 11014 ... to find something that would compile with Ubuntu 10.10. Read this:

on the Audacity -devel mailing list for details. In short they know it is broken but have not had time to fix it yet.

As for the OP's failure with 1.3.12, I am not sure but it looks like a problem with wxWidgets. Did you install a wxWidgets package or did you build it yourself? As for Audacity, you should grab version 11014:

and try building that.

For both of you, keep an eye on:

and watch for a new commit which fixes the Linux build, then use:

to check out the SVN HEAD and build that--it is 1.3.14alpha and should be very stable for most situations.

I am trying to install audacity on CentOS. I have tried using the svn version of audacity that you have suggested. However, when I do a make, I get the same old error as follows: (I am using wxWidgets 2.8.12 )

wxWidgets 2.8.12 is not supported by Audacity. It will work on Windows (I have not tested it with Linux) as far a compiling and running but there may very well be some GUI inconsistencies.

Get the wxWidgets 2.8.11 wxGTK source code and build it from scratch from here:
http://biolpc22.york.ac.uk/pub/2.8.11/

Doing the configure, make & make install steps will insure that the wxWidgets header files can be seen during the Audacity build.

I got the wxWidgets 2.8.11 wxGTK source code and build it from scratch. I used svn checkout -r 11014 http://audacity.googlecode.com/svn/audacity-src/trunk/ targetFolder and now make and make install work fine. Thank you very much.

However, my goal is to perform scripting in audacity and the "make" in lib-src/mod-script-pipe gives me the following errors:
