creating labels

Post by kline2001 » Fri Oct 08, 2010 1:20 am

Hi,

I hit play on a track, then I go to "Project" and select "Add label at playback position."
My assumption is that something like a text box would appear, where I can write in the name of the track.
But this doesn't happen. I don't see anything. I am missing a step.
What is it?
Thank you for your help.

When you execute that command, a label is inserted into the label track, ready for input. If no label track exists, one is created. Note that you are better using the keyboard shortcut CTRL+M, since the command puts the label at the playback position at the moment you click on the "Project" menu, not at the moment you select the command.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I am just not seeing it - but nothing on the screen changes when I click on "Add label."

You said "a label is inserted into the label track, ready for input" but I simply don't see any label track. I don't see anything change at all. When I start typing, I do not see what I type.

I know I have a label track somewhere, because when I go to edit "undo" I am able to undo the label track.

Thanks.

O well, I opened a new project, and all of a sudden, I can see the label track.
Was the problem, perhaps, that I had too many tracks already crammed into the screen, and that's why I couldn't see the label track?
