Is there a way to center the "cursor location" in the window

Post by Edgar » Thu Aug 12, 2010 3:06 pm

Lots of times I will start playing and the current "cursor location" will scroll off-screen. Often I am zoomed in a fair amount and finding the "cursor location" again is tedious. I now hit the spacebar three times quickly--stop, start, stop (immediately) which usually does the job but has drawbacks. Is there a keyboard shortcut (or command to which a shortcut may be applied) which (when stopped) will do this?

Audacity Preferences > Tracks > [X] Update Display while Playing.

This drives me crazy because I never know where the display has snapped to, and I apparently lose my edit point.

CTRL+F to "Zoom to Fit in Window" then CTRL+1 repeatedly to zoom in on the cursor location.

I actually want the display to scroll with playing--wish there was a way to keep the current playing sample centered.

This might help--I had not noticed that "Fit In Window" followed by CTRL+1 zoomed on the Cursor. I think I can store a variable of "preferred working zoom" and create a voice-activated script which does "fit in window" followed by an appropriate sequence of ctrl+1.
