If you record one side of an LP, you would normally end up with one recording containing all 5 or 6 songs on that side of the LP.

You can split them into separate songs easily after the recording is finished.

I think you can mark the gaps between songs as the recording is made if you are listening.

Audacity has a "silence finder" function that is designed to locate the silence between songs, but it can be fooled by silence WITHIN a song.

I'm not sure what other people do, but I've found it easiest to just make a single recording of the entire LP (or cassette) side, save it to the PC hard drive, and then split it up later. The splitting wouldn't take more than a couple of minutes.

You can locate the gaps between songs easily be zooming out so you can see the waveforms of several songs at the same time.
