I am trying to divide an AIF music file of continuous music (no gaps between songs) into clips for a gapless CD. I followed the directions in the tutorial: Place selection tool where split is to be made; select "split" from the edit menu. The file splits, but the tracks overlap when exporting and attempting to pay in iTunes. The first track will include a second or 2 of the beginning of the second track; the second track starts where it should. Therefore there are 1-2 seconds of repetitive material in the gapless playback in iTunes (or anywhere else, for that matter). A few times I tried it, instead of the repetitive material, I got 1 or 2 seconds of silence, therefore making it impossible to play back gapless. For some reason, when I selected "split" I noticed it took up 1 to 2 seconds of space in the time line, therefore creating the gap. Other than that, I don't know what I did. Am I not clicking in the right place? I must have tried it at least 20 times, and could not get it to work. I'm used to using CD Spin Doctor to divide up music files. It allows me to begin a new clip exactly where the previous clip ended. That program has other problems, so I have decided to look for a better program.
I'm working in 24 bit PCM mode at 48kHz sample, which CD Spin Doctor does not permit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You may have run into a known bug in 1.3.10. Upgrade to 1.3.12 and all will be well.
Make sure that Snap To is off in the Edit menu.

And you know to make sure that you export in 44.1 kHz 16-bit for burning CD's, right?gmushlin wrote:I'm working in 24 bit PCM mode at 48kHz sample, which CD Spin Doctor does no

some cd burners put a gap in no matter what
you need a program that allow for gapless burning too

iTunes allows you to set the inter-song gap. Zero is one of the options.

Yes, it was the bug in the previous version that caused the problem. Problem solved.
