AK5371 Device Issue

Post by mydhen » Wed Jul 21, 2010 11:03 am

I have a situation when I try to install the Tevion Turntable I purchased a while ago on my Windows XP Pro system. It does not auto install the driver, and the Device Manager shows the AK5371 with a yellow circle and exclamation mark on it. I have searched through the forums, including this one, and have not found a solution to the problem. I do realise that there are is no specific driver provided for this by the manufacturar, but I would appreciate any advice on how to solve this error.

Thank You.
Henry.

You dont say so I assume its a usb device

maybe the tutorial/tips/or documention page here on usb TTs would help

sounds like you need to get win to know you are using a usb device

what does the Tevion manual say ?
does the software they provide work ?

Wouldnt Tevion be better able to help you with their hardware ?

Thank you. I did forget to mention - yes, it is USB. Other people have contacted Audacity about the problem (Tevion has no help) and have been advised that Windows XP installs this driver automatically. I did use the original installation disk, with no success. I did have the unit working when I purchased it, so I assume it's some issue with my Windows system. I was hoping if anyone could offer some tip as to how to treat a driver which should install automatically from Windows, but doesn't.

Thank you.

Henry.

Try booting into "Safe Mode" with the USB device disconnected from the computer and in the Device Manager remove each instance of the AK5371 driver.
Reboot the computer normally with the USB device still disconnected and check in the Device manager that all other drivers are functioning correctly.
Assuming that all is OK, connect the USB turntable and wait for Windows to recognise the device. After a few moments you should see the turntable added to the list of devices in the "Safely Remove Hardware" list of devices and in the Device Manager.
