Windows XP sp2 - 1.44ghz 512mb RAM
I am trying to multitrack record. So let's say I record track #1. I play it back and it sounds wonderful. Then I go to add track #2, as soon as I hit record track #1 sounds static-y my voice sounds kind of chipmunk-y, very bad. Again, just hitting play it sounds wonderful. when I hit record it sounds awful.

Re: bad playback while recording
update- I was using headphones plugged into my Lexicon Alpha to listen to playback. When I switched the playback to Sigma-Tel Audio (my soundcard). it played back fine while recording. does anyone know which driver(s) I may need to update ? I'm certain the Lexicon Alpha is capable of working correctly because I have used it with two other computers with Audacity without problems. Ihave tried reinstalling it when I use the install cd it doesn't get recognized, when I use the add hardware wizard I run into this 'bad playback while recording' problem.
