2 questions.1 weird noise during playback 2 annoying bg

Post by SkylessNight » Tue Jun 29, 2010 3:56 pm

This is a two part question.
1) I record instrumental songs I write on my guitar and I use an E3500 webcam as a mic. However once I get done recording I get this weird sound as if everything is muffled and you can't hear it clearly. Is there any effect I can use to clear things up and get a better, more professional like sound?
2) How the heck do you get rid of annoying background noises (people talking, knocking on doors, shutting doors etc.) that come up during recording sessions?

A1) Use the equaliser to cut the bass (low frequencies) and/ or boost the treble (high frequencies).

A2) Typically you can't ... http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 880#p90880, unless the cough etc is in an otherwise silent portion, (so does not coincide with music).

B1) with a webcam mic don't expect miracles... from personal experience I'd say you'll have to spend a few hundred dollars/euros to achieve a decent professional sound... (with professional equipment)

B2) You eliminate the source of the noise... ie, you go to a place where there are no people talking, nor knocking on doors, etc... :)
Include as much details as you can in your post (Audacity version, Operating System, Equipment used, etc).
Please post your question in the appropriate forum (regarding audacity version and operating system).
