Audacity Recording Problem

When I record with audacity the first track is ok. But if I want to add another instrument (which I useually do) it records it and for some reason the first track is in it as well like a reverb. The only way to fix this is to turn off the sound thing which is toward the upper center right or the screen (it has the speaker symbol). Does anyone know how to fix this?
