No Music on Playback -- Only Slight Muffled Scratchy Noise

Hello,

I installed Audacity 1.3.4 on my computer and did a 'Record' of a music track that I was listening to on an online music site. However, after I tried the Playback I hear no music, only a very slight scratchy sound. I can see the vertical cursor moving in a normal manner to the right in my Stereo Tracks but I hear no music. I am hoping someone can give me some insight about my problem.

Here are my PC/hardware specs: I have a new AMD 6000+ series PC with a dual core processor using 3 GB of RAM, so I assume I have plenty of power. My OS is Windows Vista, and my system came with a Realtek HD Audio card pre-installed. I can hear good quality sound when I pull up any typical music site (like an online music station), so I think it is a good card.

I have a feeling one of my settings in my Audacity session is either wrong or perhaps I need to set a switch somewhere.

I hope someone can straighten me out or offer some useful insight into my problem. Many thanks to all in advance!!!!
