track markers won't move with edit

Post by Norm Mast » Wed Jun 16, 2010 12:50 am

Something I've been noticing as of late is when I have my track markers placed and then edit/delete some sections of the audio file the markers won't move with the edit. This means I have to go back and relocate the track marker all the time. One might suggest I edit and then place track markers but I have started dropping my track markers on the fly as the recording is taking place. This saves time when my recording is done as I don't have to go back and go through the entire file to loacte track locations. I am going to try and go back throgh some help sections here and see if I can find the answer to this...but I know how the users here like to answer 'simple' questions like this...so....What if anything am I doing wrong, or how do I fix this issue?

Depends which version of 1.3 you are using - this functionality came and went a bit - it works ok in the latest Beta 1.3.12.

You will need to select both the audio track and the same section of the label track by ckicking and dragging.

I believe it's the Beta version, but I will try this later this eve. I figured it was something simple...*fingers crossed* Thanks!

All the released 1.3.x versions are Beta - I cant rember exactly but I think it was around 1.3.10 the non-selectiing behaviour was introduce. It is definitely fixed the latest Beta 1.3.12 (and the latest Alpha 1.3.13).

OK, so I tried this method, and it still didn't seem to work. I will continue to play around with this more....maybe I'm not doing something right.

As Waxcylinder says, you have to have both the audio and label tracks selected for this to work.

The easiest way to do this, I've found, is first select the audio you want to delete. Then press SHIFT + Down Arrow. This extends the selection to the label track. Now when you delete, the labels after the deleted section will move with the audio.

NOTE: This works in 1.3.9 and 1.3.12, but not in 1.3.10 or 1.3.11.
