Problem with selection tool

Post by duckman » Tue Jun 15, 2010 8:14 am

Hi.
I've been using Audacity for simle audiotasks for a while, and not at all as an expert. And now it seems I've done something that I can't seem to undo.
My selection bar suddenly finds itself under a white horisontal bar that lies under the audio... I've checked all the settings I usually use - but as I said, I'm no expert in this program - and can't seem to find anyone else with the same problem online... I've even tried uninstalling and reinstalling...

Image attatched, the circle outlines where the horisontal bar lies OVER the selection - making it very difficult to zoom in and get a perfect cut...

It's probably something bleeding obvious, but I'm at my wits end here... grateful for any reply to help me resolve this issue..

Looks to me like youv'e inadvertently turned the Envelope tool on (which enables variable amplification thoughout the recording). The envelope tool icon is the button with the two little white triagles pointing towards eachother with a little white dot inbetween and a blue line passing through.

To turn that off simply click on the Section tool icon - the one immediately to the left of the envelope tool icon, looks like a big capital I or a girder x-section.
