Hi guys,
i'm relatively new to recording from my DJ Setup to Audacity. It was working before and is now not working. I am presented with this message when I click the record button "Error while checking sound devices. Please check the Input device settings and the project sample rate"
I have a Mac OSX 10.4.10.
Can anyone assist? Much appreciated!
Sharpy

Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
Mac 0S X 10.3 and earlier are no longer supported but you can download legacy versions of Audacity for those systems HERE.

Re: Error Recording
A few pieces more.
The DJ mixer has a "HiFi" output which is Line Level. Most Macs have a Line-In connection--even the laptops, except for that new skinny one. It's the circle with the two black arrows pointing in.
You should have one single cable between the two. If you have more than that, you are working too hard, and you may also be shooting your self in the foot.
In the Mac Setup panels, choose Line-In and watch the bouncing lights move when you play a song. Open Audacity and choose Default Input. Click once inside the red recording meters and they, too, should flash when you play a song.
Set the levels. Press Record.

Re: Error Recording
Thanks Koz,
With my MacBook, i'm using a USB interface and the RCA's are connected from the interface to the Master. The USB interface does appear in the sounds preferences box and does work. The problem seems to lie wholly within Audacity. The chances are i'm wrong but i'm a little confused by the fact it was working and now it isn't and I haven't changed anything?
Cheers

Re: Error Recording
Audacity doesn't always get along so well with USB sound devices. It hates the USB turntables, but it's not on good terms with other USB devices either. You bought an iMic, right? You can probably do a lot better with very much better stability and quality by carefully removing the iMic and put one of these in instead.

I recorded all the live voice performance tracks for a theatrical short using a sound mixer, one of those cables, a PowerBook, and 48000, 16 bit stereo Audacity. No crashing, no weird noises, and no Devices Missing.
I put my iMic in the garage.

Thanks Koz,
I have that piece of equipment and will give it a shot. As for the iMic - I don't have one of those pieces of ____! I have a Behringer UCA202 which would appear to not be much better.
Thanks for your help!
