microphone mono

Post by bleeper » Mon Jun 07, 2010 5:58 pm

tried using audacity 13.0 beta for the first time today and that the recording input is seeing my sound card as being microphone mono however the older software version sees it as stereo which it is. Any advice as I would really like to use the newer version but obviously can't because of this problem, I'm running a behringer uca222 interface.

Please confirm from Help > About Audacity (or Audacity > About Audacity if you are on a Mac computer) the three-digit version number of Audacity you are using, and what operating system you are on (e.g. Windows 7). The current Beta is 1.3.12.

Are you saying that you are connecting a stereo left and right input to left and right input of the Behringer, and that when you go to the Audacity Beta preferences and select recording channels for the Behringer you only have a choice of "1 (mono)"? I've seen some reports of that on both Windows Vista/7 and OS X that apparently couldn't be resolved.

But if you are on Vista or 7 you should first try setting default format to stereo and see if that helps.

Thanks for the reply Gale, yes as above. I'm running Windows Vista, with version 1.2.6 it works fine the problem I'm having is with version 1.3.12 (beta). I'm away from my set up at the moment but will try using preference as stereo later on this morning and see if that works, will post reply.
Thanks again

Seems like there is a vista related problem with this combination, but I have found a way around it and that is simply to record on the older software and then import it to audacity beta that way I can make use of the extra features.
