This is a report, then a question. I was working stably on 1.2.6, and was encouraged to try 1.3.4. I'm on Vista Home Premium. I've had many crashes since. One thing I can't do at all on 1.3.4, and that is convert a stereo track (which plays) to a mono track (it then crashes). I use "Tracks--Stereo to Mono". I'm considering going back to 1.2.6 but wanted to report this and also ask if I'm doing anythng wrong, or if you'd like me to give you any more info?

Re: 1.2.6 vs. 1.3.4
I've also had similar problems with 1.3.4. It crashed and killed two separate projects, (I'll try anything twice). Luckily, I kept 1.2.6 around and was able to import the original waves into it and remix everything. What a pain in the butt! Then again, it does claim to be unstable and now I (we) know why. I've since uninstalled 1.3.4 and work exclusively in 1.2.6. I'll give 1.4 a try when it comes out but I'm keeping the setup file for 1.2.6, just in case.
I liked most of the features in 1.3.4 except for the speedometer style silence generator. I just found it easier to input ".3" seconds into a box rather than figure out how many decimal places the speedometer uses. Is this an example of change for the sake of change or does it have to be this way to function in the newer versions?

Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like bananas.
Re: 1.2.6 vs. 1.3.4
I'll repeat my offer and the reason for it. One of the Audacity team, feeling 1.3.4 had come to age and was very stable, suggested I consider switching to it. (See "Sliding Tracks Around"). I did so in Vista Home Premium, and found great instability. I offered to run a test or two, if that would help the effort. Would you like me to?
